Sunday Timewaster

Forgive me for being behind these past few days, I've been moving into a new apartment to get away from high school-like drama. Here's the content for Sunday.

Learn To Fly

This is one of my all time favorite online games. You start off as a little penguin who has one dream - to fly. You begin the game on a small hill, as you slide down you flop on the water and your flight is quickly over. Over time, you'll unlock achievements, such as fly over 25 feet, or reach a speed of 20 miles per hour. After your first try, you may feel a bit helpless.. but with the technology of penguin engineering you can upgrade the hill, add a glider, upgrade your air resistance and more.

The ability to upgrade your penguin makes this game super addictive. You'll quickly realize that each upgrade gets you further and further and you soon become addicted to the upgrading system.

Concept- A lone penguin dream of flight and builds rockets and gliders to allow him to reach his goal of soaring high in the sky.

Gameplay- 8.7/10  The controls couldn't get any simpler. Left and right to adjust the pitch, and smashing the space bar fires off your rockets. The more advanced you upgrade your glider, the more information you will receive, such as air resistance, and altitude.

Graphics- 8.5/10  The graphics are colorful and well drawn. Fairly simplistic in design, it show that you don't need perfect shading and millions of colors to pull off a good game.

Audio- 5/10  The audio track can be a bit repetitive, but the game is fairly short; it's able to be finished in under 20 minutes or so. The wooshing sounds as you leave them ramp, and the stock rocket booster sounds are basically all the sound effects in this game. This is the weakest attribute in the entire game, but is somewhat forgivable.

Replay Value- Moderate
